Masseur of Aparecidence invades Brazil Serie D play-off match, stops Tupi scoring winner
- Updated: September 8, 2013
This simply beggars belief!
If we didn’t have the picture and video evidence you probably would not believe that a masseur stopped a certain goal in Brazil’s Serie D on Saturday.
Brazil’s Serie D is currently at the last 16 stage of a play-off system that will decide promotion.
Aparecidence had drawn 1-1 with Tupi in their first leg last week and resumed battle on Saturday.
The 2-2 draw sent Aparecidence through on away goals but this only really tells half the story.
With a minute to go in the second half, Tupi launched an attack, after a mini scramble, Ademilson beat the goal keeper with a close range shot only for it to be stopped on the line by a white shirted opponent.
The Aparecidence masseur (!) eventually saved two goal bound shots before running for his life and out the ground itself.
Despite the presence of riot police, the referee did finish the match moments later with Tupi left to rue the pitch invader who prevented them from progressing in the Serie D play-offs.
Reports in Brazil claim that Tupi are taking the clip below to the law courts in an attempt to have the result reversed…
