Ian Wright confuses war with football in bizarre suggestion for players who don’t want to play for England [Sun]

Harry Redknapp’s revelation on BBC radio last night, telling the story of Spurs players who used to try to get out of playing for England, has caused quite a stir.

England captain Steven Gerrard has called for ‘Arry to name names, to oust these wrong ‘uns.

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has a more extreme suggestion, as he lays out in his Sun column today:

‘The next young player who says he does not want to play for England should be ordered to ring the parents of a soldier who has died serving his country in Afghanistan, and tell them his reasons.’

Exactly of what interest would it be to these people that a millionaire doesn’t want to play a game of football?
