Crackpot! Liverpool’s Luis Suarez (Uruguay) punched Chilean defender Gonzalo Jara in the face

It’s another negative day for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.

Uruguay slumped to a 2-0 away defeat in Chile on Tuesday night which left the reigning Copa America champions outside the World Cup qualification places in sixth spot.

Whilst it was a bad night for Uruguay collectively, Luis Suarez courted individual trouble for a moment of madness ten minutes before the interval.

As the Anfield centre-forward jostled with Chilean defender Gonzalo Jara during a 34th minute corner, the Liverpool attacker went on the attack – literally – as he punched his opponent in the face.

Fortunately for Suarez, the referee missed the incident in real time. Had it been spotted, the Liverpool forward would surely have been sent for an early bath.
