Amazing Corinthians tribute to Ayrton Senna, players wear helmets before Nacional AM win

Corinthians won 3-0 at Nacional AM in the Copa do Brasil on Wednesday night and before the match they took the opportunity to pay homage to a Brazilian legend.

Ayrton Senna died 20 years ago today – on May 1, 1994.

Senna was from Sao Paulo and was a keen supporter of Corinthians.

So, the players last night brought out helmets and put them on before the match in one of the finest tributes we have ever seen on a football pitch.

As can be seen on the video below, the Arena Amazônia broke out into spontaneous applause.

All rather special.
