Jets sign wide receiver Garrett Wilson to $130m extension

The New York Jets have signed wide receiver Garrett Wilson to a four-year extension worth $130 million.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the Jets have come to terms with Wilson on a deal that includes $90 million guaranteed.

The deal ensures Wilson would be under contract through 2030, and it also sees the 2022 first-round pick make history.

Indeed, Wilson’s extension makes the first time a receiver has received a contract with an average annual salary of $31 million having played just three seasons in the NFL.

But Wilson has justified that kind of outlay with his play over those first three seasons.

The former Ohio State Buckeye has made a sensational start to his NFL career, racking up three successive seasons with 1,000 yards receiving.

Wilson has amassed 3,249 yards over the course of his career so far, while also recording 14 receiving touchdowns.

Seven of those touchdowns came last year, Wilson producing a career year as he finished with 1,104 yards for a Jets team that finished the 2024 campaign 5-12.

Despite his superb production to this point, the Jets have won just 19 games in Wilson’s time with the team.

With the Jets transitioning to a new era with Aaron Glenn as head coach and Justin Fields, his former Ohio State teammate, taking over as the starting quarterback, Wilson will hope 2025 will mark the start of a period in which his stellar play helps deliver winning football.
