The draw put record 10-time champion Novak Djokovic and two-time defending champion Sinner in the same half of the section, meaning the pair could meet in the semi-finals.

Alcaraz was in the same half of the draw as world number three Zverev. In the women’s section, world number one Aryna Sabalenka could meet the likes of world number two Iga Swiatek or British number 28 seed Emma Raducanu – the 2021 US Open winner – before the final.
