Gabriel Jesus has scored two goals in four Premier League appearances at Selhurst Park.

Match preview

Selhurst Park is where last season really began to fall apart for Arsenal but, this time round, they return to South London with optimism sky-high ahead of a new campaign.

Mikel Arteta’s men only just missed out on Champions League qualification in May, but this now needs to be the year Arsenal finish in the top four for the first time since 2016.

The Gunners are set to deploy a trio of debutants, namely Oleksandr Zinchenko, Gabriel Jesus and William Saliba, the latter three years after joining.

Takehiro Tomiyasu, Kieran Tierney and Emile Smith Rowe are all injured.

So, will this bubble of optimism will be immediately burst by another Selhurst Park mauling?

Crystal Palace are certainly capable of this following a strong season in which they finished 12th.

Patrick Vieira’s team demolished Arsenal back in April, also claiming the scalps of Tottenham and Manchester United on their own turf.

Having strengthened in the transfer market, and not lost any key players, the Eagles look well-placed for another productive campaign.

Michael Olise is sidelined, but Sam Johnstone, Chris Richards, Cheick Doucouré and Malcolm Ebiowei are all set for debuts.

Will the Palace faithful be celebrating another memorable night, or will Arsenal show their metal and claim all three points in this London derby?
