A Premier League midlands derby is upon us with Aston Villa set to welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to Villa Park as two Spanish managers meet with one another in the English top flight in Julen Lopetegui’s third match in the Premier League.

Wolves have looked much better under Lopetegui than they did under Bruno Lage in the past few games. The club stole all three points against Everton at Goodison Park thanks to a goal from Daniel Podence and a 95th-minute winner from Rayan Ait-Nouri on the Premier League return.

A loss to Manchester United by a narrow 1-0 scoreline would come soon after, but Wolves looked considerably better than in previous games under Lage, as David De Gea had to save United a few times.

The club are still in 19th, however, but have been helped by Everton’s torrid form after their 4-0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion.

As for Villa, they lost 3-1 to Liverpool in their first game back after the World Cup break, with Ollie Watkins netting another goal in that game.

A fantastic 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur would come soon after, as Emi Buendia scored the opener before a sensational goal from Douglas Luiz to seal the deal.
