The Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks are both 7-2 as they contest top spot in the NFC West in a tantalising NFL showdown at the SoFi Stadium on Sunday.
Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold is considered a contender for the Most Valuable Player award this season by bookmakers, but the Rams’ Matthew Stafford is even shorter odds for the honor, showing the form both are in before they collide at the Huntington Bank Field.
“He’s one of a kind,” Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said of Darnold, who has the most touchdown passes and passing yards per game in the league.
“There are not a lot of people who do all the no-look passes and can throw it with that type of arm talent. If you start chasing certain things and trying to catch him, it gets a little funky.”
Macdonald’s team earned a fourth straight win by beating the Arizona Cardinals 44-22 last Sunday, when the Rams followed suit with a 42-26 victory over the San Francisco 49ers.
“If there are issues, [we need] to fix them out there at the line of scrimmage and make sure we’re getting in and out of good plays and go out there and play good, sound football,” said Stafford.
“That’s kind of been the recipe for us, no matter what’s getting put out there on the defensive side of the ball.
“We have thoughts on what we want to try to do, and [we want to] go out there and execute them.”
