NFL: Kansas City Chiefs star Rashee Rice handed 30-day prison sentence for role in car crash
The wide receiver can serve his time at any point during the next five years.
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has been handed a sentence of 30 days in jail and five years of probation in connection with a multi-vehicle crash that occurred last year.
A judge in Dallas ruled that Rice may serve his jail time at any point during the five-year probation period.
The 25-year-old also received deferred adjudication, meaning the charges will be dismissed if he successfully completes the terms of his probation.
The outcome now clears the path for the NFL to move forward with its own disciplinary measures.
Rice is expected to face a suspension during the 2025 season, though the exact number of games remains undetermined.
Authorities said Rice was driving a Lamborghini SUV at 119 mph shortly before the May 30, 2024, collision.

He faced multiple charges, including one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision resulting in serious bodily harm, and six additional counts related to injury.
Rice missed most of the 2024 NFL season after tearing his right ACL in Week 4.
Despite the legal and injury setbacks, the Chiefs anticipate he’ll be fully fit when training camp opens next week.
