Look away Drake: Kendrick Lamar announced as headliner for Super Bowl LIX half-time show
The American rapper will perform in New Orleans on February 9, 2025
Kendrick Lamar will headline the half-time show at Super Bowl LIX, the superstar rapper has announced.
With the new NFL season starting later today, Lamar confirmed he will perform at the New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome on February 9, 2025.
“Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why,” Lamar said in a statement. “They got the right one.”
It won’t be the first time Lamar has performed on arguably the biggest crossover event between music and sport as, in 2022, he took to the stage as a guest during a set from Dr Dre.

Seth Dudowsky, Head of Music at the NFL, said. “Few artists have impacted music and culture as profoundly as Kendrick Lamar. Time and time again, Kendrick has proven his unique ability to craft moments that resonate, redefine, and ultimately shake the very foundation of hip-hop.”
The show will be produced by Jay-Z and his Roc Nation company. Jay-Z said: “Kendrick Lamar is truly a once-in-a-generation artist and performer. His deep love for hip-hop and culture informs his artistic vision.
“He has an unparalleled ability to define and influence culture globally. Kendrick’s work transcends music, and his impact will be felt for years to come.”
Lamar has spent much of the last 12 months in a war of words with fellow rapper Drake, a global ambassador for the NBA’s Toronto Raptors.
