Dallas Cowboys @ Denver Broncos preview
Inspired by quarterback Dak Prescott’s passer rating of at least 120 in four consecutive games, the Dallas Cowboys (3-3-1) have the highest total yardage per game as they attempt to win an eighth straight encounter with the Denver Broncos (5-2) at Empower Field on Sunday.
Their opponents can take confidence from their position atop the AFC West, helped by achieving the most sacks in the NFL and scoring all of their points in the fourth quarter in their 33-32 home win over the New York Giants last Sunday – the most in NFL history by a team that was held scoreless through three quarters.
“We both had homes in an area where my wife is from,” Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said when he was asked about Broncos counterpart Sean Payton.
“We have had a lot of cocktails, a lot of shotties and told a lot of stories on the beach. We’ve spent some time together vacationing.
“We kind of run with the same people. He’s a good man and a great coach who’s been great for me. He was a great sounding board for me this summer, with some of the stories and things I’ve asked, looking for advice.”
Dallas are second in the NFC East after their 44-22 win over the Washington Commanders last Sunday but are yet to earn consecutive victories this season, with Schottenheimer and Payton’s teams both hindered by measures of inconsistency so far.
