Reports coming out of France have linked Chelsea and England star Mason Mount with FC Barcelona.
As per football.london, citing French outlet Footmercato, Barcelona are interested in signing Mount when the summer transfer window opens.
This comes with the 23-year-old having just over two years remaining on his Blues contract.
No potential fee is mentioned in the report, but it is easy to see why Barca may be interested in Mount. Even in a season where fans have often not been too complimentary of him, Mount has still managed to net eight and provide seven assists in 25 Premier League outings.
One potential issue with a move to Barcelona, though, is where would Xavi Hernandez actually play Mount?
Barca have a plethora of quality central midfielders already on their books, and Xavi tends to prefer using natural wingers out wide, something Mount is not.

Mount’s Chelsea stint
He has been a key cog in the Blues’ XI since former boss Frank Lampard took the reins.
The Englishman had spent the previous season on loan in the Championship with Lampard’s Derby County.
In turn, upon ‘Lamps’ being named Chelsea boss for the 2019/20 season, he opted to instantly hand Mount a starting berth.
This seemed like a bold move at the time, given the midfielder’s lack of top-flight experience, but to say that it has since worked out well would be putting it lightly.
Mount has become an essential part of both Chelsea and England’s setup over the last couple of years and, of course, laid on the Blues’ Champions League final-winning goal versus Manchester City back in May of 2021.
