New Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is looking to avoid the biggest headache possible in the wake of taking the reins of the Premier League outfit as the Australian tactician sheds light on his desire to work alongside England star Harry Kane in a bid to push the club forward and instill success at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Kane, who has just one year left on his current terms with Spurs, remains in the crosshairs of German giants Bayern Munich as the Bavarians persist in their attempts to lure the record goalscorer to the Allianz Arena.
Thomas Tuchel’s Bundesliga outfit submitted a second bid for Kane yesterday, offering €80m plus add-ons for the 29-year-old, which was expectedly rebuffed immediately by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, but uncertainty still surrounds Kane’s future as the club and international all-time record goalscorer is not expected to consider an extension in the English capital until after the conclusion of the summer transfer window.
But for Postecoglou, the desire to hit the ground running with Kane looms large for the former Glasgow Celtic fan favorite, who is highly motivated at bringing success to a club starved for trophies.
“Kane is one of the best players in the world. I want Harry here and I want to make Tottenham successful. I’m certain he wants that as well”.
“I want to introduce myself and I want to know what he wants to happen to make this football club successful. Then we’ll go out there on the training ground and make it happen”.
But unfortunately for Postecoglou, there are no guarantees that Kane will remain a Spurs player come September.
“Assurances that Kane is staying? I haven’t had any assurances. I wouldn’t expect any. You’re never dealing in definites with this kind of thing. What I know right now is Harry is part of this squad, looking forward to coming back”.
