Eric Dier undergoes surgery
Tottenham are enjoying their best ever start to a Premier League season.
After beating Burnley 1-0 on Saturday they now sit 3rd in the Premier League and five points above 5th place Arsenal.
Eric Dier has been a key member of Spurs squad this campaign. He has made 17 appearances across all competitions, scoring two in that time.
However, Dier was not in the matchday squad that beat Burnley at the weekend.
It has since been revealed that Dier has had to undergo surgery to remove his appendix.
Tottenham have also given an update on when Dier will be back:
“He will now undergo a period of recovery before commencing rehabilitation and it is expected he will return to training with the squad in January.”

Tottenham vs Arsenal
As a result of his surgery, Dier will miss Tottenham’s games against Arsenal, Everton, Bournemouth, Wolves and Cardiff.
The 1st of those games is perhaps the most important of the group.
Tottenham face Arsenal on Wednesday in the quarter-final of the League Cup.
The two sides met earlier in the season in the league and Arsenal would smash Spurs 4-2.
But with Tottenham’s long wait for a trophy still continuing, they will be desperate to get one over on their North London rivals this Wednesday.
