Tottenham reportedly ready to swoop for Callum Wilson if Bournemouth are relegated

A recent report in the English media has linked Tottenham with Bournemouth forward Callum Wilson.

Bournemouth standout

Wilson, 28, has been plying his trade with the Cherries since 2014, after making the move to the South Coast from Coventry.

And the hitman has since gone on to become a pivotal member of Bournemouth’s attack.

All told, in 186 outings across all competitions for Eddie Howe’s men, Wilson has netted 67 and assisted 30.

Wilson’s 2018/19 campaign proved particularly impressive, with the Englishman having scored 14 and assisted 10 in 30 Premier League outings.

And whilst the Coventry youth hasn’t enjoyed as much success in front of goal this time around, it’s worth noting that Bournemouth have been pretty poor all season.

Tottenham linked with Wilson

And it is this poor form which could see the Cherries forced to part ways with one of their standout stars.

As per a report from the Sun, Tottenham are ready to make a move for Wilson if Bournemouth are relegated today.

And with Howe’s men requiring a win over Everton, whilst also hoping for Aston Villa and Watford to suffer defeats, the Cherries do, as things stand, look set for a return to the Championship.

This, according to the Sun, could allow Spurs to pick up Wilson for around £10m. The forward is currently tied down at the Vitality until 2023.

Such a fee, even with Spurs seemingly struggling in the post-COVID-19 market, appears very reasonable for a proven Premier League centre-forward who would provide the north Londoners with some much-needed back-up for Harry Kane.

Newcastle have also been linked with the Bournemouth hitman this week, but one would imagine that, given a choice between the Magpies and a side challenging for Europe with Jose Mourinho at the helm, Wilson would likely opt for the latter.
