Tottenham’s Eric Dier is injured
Bad news for Tottenham and England international Eric Dier.
Spurs have confirmed this weekend that Dier is now on the sidelines.
That’s after the midfielder had an unspecified operation.
Tottenham issued the following statement on Dier’s injury setback:
Eric Dier has undergone a medical procedure to correct an issue detected during medical assessments on the first day of pre-season training.
Following the successful procedure Eric will now undertake a short period of rehabilitation. He will therefore not travel on the Club’s pre-season tour to Singapore and Shanghai.
Eric Dier will miss Tottenham’s pre-season tour of Asia after undergoing an unspecified medical procedure.

How will this affect Eric Dier’s upcoming season?
Without much information to go on, it’s impossible to say how long Dier will be out for.
Yet, one has to worry about Dier’s place in the Tottenham team next season.
While the club recently agreed a new deal with Harry Winks, Tanguy Ndombele has joined Spurs from Lyon this summer.
Even before the news of Dier’s injury problems, the midfielder’s place in the XI seemed under threat.
Now, without taking part in Tottenham’s pre-season, Dier’s selection problems seem even graver.
Despite missing the upcoming pre-season tour to Asia, Spurs are expecting Eric Dier to be fit for the start of the season next month following his successful procedure and now short spell of rehabilitation.

Tottenham’s pre-season tour

The Lillywhites have friendlies scheduled against Juventus and Manchester United as part of the International Champions Cup.
Spurs also face matches against Real Madrid and Inter Milan this summer.
Tottenham’s first Premier League match of the new season is against Aston Villa, on August 10th.
