Kane a no-show at training
Harry Kane has failed to report back to Tottenham Hotspur training following his European Championship exertions. The Englishman was due back this morning for Covid tests, but chose to remain home in a bid to force through a move this summer.
Kane is assuming that he has had a ‘gentlemen agreement’ with the club since one year to leave Spurs this summer.

Sources have told both the Manchester Evening News and Football.London that Manchester City are unlikely to shell out the amount needed to sign the striker, who has 3 years left on his current deal in north London.
However, this has not stopped Kane from trying to force Chairman Daniel Levy’s hand to part ways with his talisman, who scored the most goals and provided the most assists in the Premier League last campaign.
As per Alasdair Gold, Tottenham correspondent for football.london, however, this move has not gone down well with the Spurs hierarchy. Indeed, he reports that:
‘Spurs are expected to dig their heels in even further now over a player who signed a six-year deal with the club in 2018.’
It seems certain that, no matter the outcome of this standoff, Kane has permanently soured his relationship with the Tottenham faithful.
Romero deal close
In better news for Tottenham fans, it appears as though a deal for Atalanta defender Cristian Romero is edging closer.
As per the same source, Tottenham are “confident” that a deal for approximately 42 million pounds (50 million euros) will be completed after Atalanta source a suitable replacement.
Cristian Romero will tell Atalanta board and manager tomorrow that he wants to join Tottenham as priority – and as ‘opportunity he can’t miss’. ⚪️🇦🇷 #THFC
Tottenham are waiting for Atalanta to accept their improved bid made last Friday – they know Barça rumours are made up.

For his part, Romero has been keen on, and pushing for, the move. Fabrizio Romano reports that he ‘wants to join Tottenham as [a] priority’. If he were to arrive in north London, Tottenham would have secured a key part of their defensive puzzle for several seasons.
The Harry Kane cloud, however, remains looming.
