Top 3 Burnley players to sign on FPL 2021/22

Chris Wood

The best Burnley picks of FPL 2021/22

Burnley are a fairly unspectacular side that you see much of the same from each season.

Their playing squad is largely average, never truly looking like they will be relegated from the Premier League but also, for a few years now at least, some way off securing a European place.

Granted, they would finish 17th in the league last season, but sat 11 points above the relegation zone.

As such, whilst Burnley are not exactly a side whom you would associate with great Fantasy Premier League options, they do generally provide a few reliable players each season.

Chris Wood, forward (7.0m)

The first of these, and perhaps the most reliable source of steady points, is Chris Wood.

Wood is priced at 7.0m this year, which does make him a fairly attractive option.

A lot of the go-to forwards on FPL in 2021/22 – like Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Patrick Bamford, Ollie Watkins, Kelechi Iheanacho and Michail Antonio – are priced at 7.5m or higher, with the former two of that quintet coming in at 8.0m.

So, if you want to save some money on one of your forward options, Wood seems like a decent shout.

Of course, Ivan Toney (6.5m) and Teem Pukki (6.0m) are cheaper alternatives. But there is always more of a risk when selecting players from newly-promoted sides, as it is harder to predict how they will perform.

Wood, on the other hand, will provide you with a decent number of goals and the odd assist for a reasonable fee.

2017/18 and 2018/19 saw him score 10 in the league for Burnley, whilst in 2019/20 he netted 14, This past season, meanwhile, saw him manage 12.

Matthew Lowton, defender (4.5m)

Outside of Wood, Burnley do not have that many great FPL options.

But one you should certainly consider is Matthew Lowton, who is one of the better 4.5m-priced defensive options this year.

The right-back probably should not be a nailed-on starter in your team, but he does work well rotating with another 4.5m defender.

For example, if you also have Tariq Lamptey in your side, rotating him with Lowton would provide you with favourable fixtures that avoid a single meeting with one of the top-six from last season until gameweek 20.

Nick Pope, goalkeeper (5.5m)

The price of Nick Pope has risen somewhat in recent years, meaning he is perhaps a less attractive option at 5.5m.

However, the English international is still a fairly decent pick if you have some spare funds to utilise on your goalkeeper spot.

Burnley would keep 11 clean sheets last season, and Pope earned an extra 20 bonus points as a result of his displays, leading to a finish as the 5th best keeper on FPL in 2020/21.
