Romelu Lukaku’s Inter move looks to be off as Nerazzurri turn to Everton-linked Rafael Leao

Man United’s Romelu Lukaku & Inter Milan

Where will Romelu Lukaku be for the 2019-20 season?

It’s been common knowledge this summer that Inter Milan have been trying to sign Lukaku.

While the Belgian has travelled with Man United throughout their pre-season tour, Lukaku has yet to compete in any of United’s warm-up matches.

Lukaku’s move to Inter has stalled over the financial terms.

A 75 million pound signing from Everton, Man United are obviously keen to avoid selling Lukaku for a loss.

But is the deal now dead?

Why Romelu Lukaku’s Inter move may be off

On Tuesday, several Italian papers suggest that Inter’s hopes of signing Lukaku might be over.

That follows a meeting between Inter president Steven Zhang and club manager Antonio Conte.

Starting with La Repubblica, it’s claimed that Lukaku’s Inter move isn’t set to happen, as the striker is too expensive:

The Corriere della Sera report that Zhang is set to walk away from the Lukaku deal because of the price-tag:

On a slightly different note, the Corriere dello Sport report that while Inter haven’t given up on trying to sign Lukaku, the Belgian’s asking price is considered too expensive:

Finally, La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Zhang has said ‘no’ to Man United’s 83 million euro asking price for Lukaku.

Nerazzurri turn to Everton target Rafael Leao

In recent days, Everton fans will likely have come across reports linking the Toffees with a possible move for Lille forward Rafael Leao.

However, the Italian press on Tuesday say that Leao is also a target for Inter.

L’Equipe has previously reported that four clubs have posted offers for Leao.

Everton offered Lille €37.5m, Valencia’s bid is €35m plus €5m in add-ons, Napoli proposed a €32.5m bid plus a 10% sell-on clause, while Aston Villa’s offer was left undefined.

While the Italian press don’t say that Inter have made their move for Leao, the papers note that the 20-year-old Portuguese forward could sign for half the price of Man United’s Lukaku.
