Mikel Arteta responds to claims of Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka contract agreement
Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has, on Friday, spoken out over claims that talismanic attacker Bukayo Saka has committed his long-term future to the club.
The subject of Saka’s terms in north London, of course, has taken its place front and centre in the headlines across the week to date.
This comes owing to the emergence of a series of reports, pointing towards a verbal agreement being found over the terms of a new long-term contract.
As per the reliable David Ornstein and more:
‘Arsenal have an agreement in principle on a new contract for Bukayo Saka’, albeit one which ‘may take some time to complete’.

Speaking to the media ahead of his side’s meeting with Leicester on Saturday, it therefore came as little surprise when Mikel Arteta was asked if progress had indeed been made in efforts to lock not only Bukayo Saka, but prodigious young defender William Saliba, down for the foreseeable future.
‘No news on that. We want to keep our best players, the players we are developing. We want to create a long-term project here & obviously we need our best players to be committed to the club.’
