Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has spoken out about his future in a recent interview.

The midfielder has been on Chelsea’s books since a youth and, after being handed his start under Frank Lampard, has gone on to greatly impress for the Blues.

Mount assisted Kai Havertz for the winning goal in the 2021 Champions League final.

He is also consistently one of the club’s top scorers, netting 13 and assisting 16 in all competitions during 2021/22. The only people to score more than Mount last term were Romelu Lukaku (15) and Havertz (14), but neither of those players came anywhere close to matching Mount’s assist tally of 16.

However, Mount is still on a relatively low wage, believed to be less than £90,000-a-week, and this has created interest from some top sides.

But despite his low wage, Mount is seemingly happy at Chelsea and looking to sign a new contract soon:

“I’ve got two years left on my contract and I’m very, very happy here. Those talks will hopefully be starting soon,” Mount said.

Mount added that he likes what he has seen from the new owners, the Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital consortium, so far:

“After the last game of the season we had a little get-together at the hotel and he (Boehly) was there with the rest of the consortium,” Mount continued.

“It was good to meet them in person and speak to them all. It’s so exciting what the future holds. It’s an unknown, but the way it’s started is really exciting to see what’s going to happen.

“We’re a team that over the last ten years has been up there and pushing and that is where we want to stay. Speaking to them about their goals and aims, we’re on the same page. So hopefully that continues.”
