Liverpool, Tottenham & West Ham all ‘prepared to meet’ Maxi Gomez’s release clause – Guardian

As per a report from the Guardian, a trio of Premier League clubs are ready to launch summer assaults for the signature of Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez.

Celta standout

Gomez, a 22-year-old Uruguayan international, made the move to Europe from his home country in the summer of 2017, when Celta clinched the signing of the powerful hitman from Defensor Sporting.

And Gomez has since taken to the rigours of European football like a duck to water.

Across 69 La Liga appearances to this point, the youngster has notched an impressive 30 goals and 9 assists. This included a debut campaign haul of 17 league goals at the age of just 21.

Premier League bound?

As such, Gomez’s stellar form at the Balaídos has unsurprisingly not gone unnoticed across Europe.

West Ham United were heavily-linked with a move for the South American during the winter transfer window:

And, as per the aforementioned report from the Guardian this afternoon, the Hammers remain interested in finding a deal for Gomez this summer.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men, though, are far from the only Premier League outfit said to be eyeing the hitman.

Liverpool and Tottenham are both also named as keen suitors of Gomez.

In fact, all 3 clubs, according to the Guardian, are ‘prepared to meet’ the 22-year-old’s £43 million Celta Vigo release clause.
