Lionel Messi opens up on PSG struggles

Lionel Messi has been discussing his up-turn in form for PSG.

Messi joined the French powerhouse in the summer of 2021 from long-time club, FC Barcelona.

The Argentine went on to have a solid season, scoring 11 goals and providing 15 assists in 34 outings.

Such a record for the majority of players, especially at 34, would be very good. However, there were some that argued that Messi was not at his best.

In 2022/23, however, at the age of 35, Messi has hit the ground running. In 11 games for PSG, he has already scored six and assisted eight.

Messi’s superb form has carried over onto the international stage as well.

Argentina faced off with Honduras in the early hours of Saturday morning. Argentina won 3-0, with Messi scoring two of their goals.

And speaking after that match, Messi has been discussing how he has improved for PSG this campaign.

Messi said: “I feel good, different from last year and I knew it was going to be like that. Last year, as I’ve already said, I had a bad time, I never finished finding myself but this year is different.

“I’ve arrived with a different head, more accommodated to the club, to the dressing room, to the game, to my teammates. The truth is I feel very good and I’m enjoying myself again.”
