Liverpool vs Brighton
Liverpool’s latest clash saw them take on Brighton on Saturday afternoon.
The Merseyside powerhouse began the weekend with an eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League, and a nine-point lead over last season’s champions Manchester City.
But after Man City drew with Newcastle in the early PL kick-off, Jurgen Klopp’s side had the chance to extend the gap between themselves and City to a staggering 11 points, should they have beaten Brighton.
Liverpool’s afternoon at Anfield got off to a promising start, as Virgil van Dijk headed the European champions in front with 18 minutes on the clock.

The towering central defender then doubled his and Liverpool’s tally for the day six minutes later.
VVD & TAA impressing
After Van Dijk scored his second of the day vs the Seagulls, a rather impressive stat came to light, highlighting how key both van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold have been for Liverpool in recent times.
TAA would provide both assists for VVD’s goals vs Brighton
And now, according to Opta, since the start of last season, Trent Alexander-Arnold has provided more assists than any other Premier League defender. That number currently stands at 17.
Van Dijk, meanwhile, has scored more Premier League goals than any other defender in the same period (7).
