Leonardo Jardim

Football fans duped by fake Leonardo Jardim Southampton interview

Is Mark Hughes facing the sack?

Football fans have seemingly been duped by a fake Leonardo Jardim Southampton interview that was posted on social media during Wednesday afternoon.

The Saints are in a very bad position right now.

Vice-chairman Les Reed has left the club and that leaves Ralph Krueger in charge of all footballing matters, including Mark Hughes’ job.

The former Stoke boss has been struggling this season with the Saints currently sat 17th in the Premier League.

Things won’t get much better soon either, with the club set to face Manchester United, Tottenham and Arsenal in their next five league fixtures.

Now, Southampton fans are thinking about change and one name that continues to crop up is Leonardo Jardim.

Fans duped by seemingly fake Jardim interview

The Portuguese boss was sacked by Monaco not too long ago but before this season was tipped to make a big move to one of the top clubs in Europe.

He did a brilliant job with a young Monaco side the season before, making history by winning Ligue 1 and also impressing in the Champions League.

His impressive side soon fell apart but despite a very poor start to this season, his stock remains fairly high.

Over the past month or so, Jardim’s name has been one on the lips of Southampton fans as the ideal man to replace Mark Hughes.

Though, this week quite a few thought their prayers had been answered when a screenshot of a supposed private interview popped up on social media.

While it looked to initially have potential, many are now suggesting it is fake and was manipulated.

Football fans react

Despite the screenshot seemingly being fake, some football fans fell for it.

Safe to say, quite a few of them were jealous of Southampton.
