Cristiano Ronaldo was left out of the Al-Nassr squad to face Al-Akhdoud in the Saudi Pro League on Monday night – but they still won 9-0!

Five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo is the 23-goal top scorer in the division but missed out as former Aston Villa man Jhon Duran scored twice and ex-Liverpool forward Sadio Mane helped himself to four.

Mane now has nine goals in his last five matches, bringing his total to 13 goals and 10 assists in 29 league matches this season. Nassr next host Al Taawoun on Friday with three matches remaining in their Saudi Pro League campaign.

Coach Stefano Pioli left Ronaldo out with Al-Nassr effectively out of the title race and they recorded their biggest ever win.

Now 40, Ronaldo’s only league win since triumphing in LaLiga with Madrid in 2017 is the 2019/20 Italian title with Juventus.

He admitted “the dream has to wait” after the Saudi Arabian side lost in the semi-finals of the AFC Champions League recently, going down 3-2 to Kawasaki Frontale in Jeddah.
