Brighton on verge of closing deal for Watford frontman

Brighton & Hove Albion are on the verge of sealing a deal for the club’s first signing of the summer, according to reports.

The player primed to take his talents to England’s south coast? Joao Pedro.

For those not aware, versatile attacker Pedro is in the midst of another fine season at Vicarage Road, which has seen the Brazilian directly contribute to 15 goals in 35 Championship appearances.

With Watford, as a collective, having struggled, though, it has long been suggested that Pedro would likely be on the move come the summer.

This comes after the 21-year-old was hotly tipped for a Premier League switch ahead of the campaign getting underway, amid intense interest on the part of Newcastle United.

As alluded to above, though, whilst Pedro does look all set to take his talents to England’s top-flight over the coming months, St. James’ Park will not be his destination.

As per a report from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, ‘Brighton are closing in on deal to sign Brazilian striker João Pedro from Watford.’

An agreement in principle is understood to be in place between the Seagulls and Watford, with Pedro himself having also given his word to the former, ahead of putting pen to paper on a long-term contract at the Amex.
