Barcelona have joined Liverpool in the race to sign Napoli midfielder Jorginho this summer, according to Sky Sport Italia.
The Catalan Giants are keen on the Italian whose would skill set would see him replace the departing Andres Iniesta.
Jorginho has been a vital cog in Napoli’s Serie A challenging side this season and has also attracted the interest of both Liverpool and Manchester City.
Barcelona in for Jorginho
Whilst Arthur Melo will be arriving at the Nou Camp this summer, following Barcelona’s agreement with Brazilian club Gremio, the Spanish champions remain keen on adding to their midfield.
Barcelona are keen on adding to the centre of midfield this summer as they brace for the departure of club legend Iniesta in the summer.
Jorginho is understood to be high on the agenda of the club’s representatives this summer with his skills in possession of the ball appealing to Barca.
It is reported that Jorginho has a transfer value of just 40 million euros which makes the 26-year-old a very attracting signing.
The Italian midfielder has contributed four goals and four assists in 37 appearances as a defensive midfielder this season playing a key role in helping Napoli to an impressive second-place finish.
Speaking about a potential transfer, his agent Joao Santos told Radio Crc:
“Jorginho has done very well with Napoli, he plays for the Italian national team, he is unique in his characteristics and for those reasons he’s probably being followed by many teams.
“At the moment though there are a lot of rumours flying about.
“The Napoli coach and players are being approached by first one team then another, but there’s nothing official.”
