The Argentine Football Association have, on Thursday evening, confirmed yet another alteration to the nation’s World Cup squad bound for Qatar.
The subject of the Albiceleste’s personnel ranks has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines across the day to date.
This comes after, first, Lionel Scaloni was forced to dig back into the options at his disposal, owing to an injury picked up by attacker Nicolas Gonzalez.
In the end, Argentina’s boss opted to call upon Atletico Madrid star Angel Correa, as per an official statement across the AFA’s social media platforms:
‘After today’s training session, soccer player Nicolás González suffered a muscle injury and will be dropped from the World Cup roster. As his replacement, the coach of Argentina summons Ángel Correa.’

And remarkably, just hours later, Scaloni has been forced into yet another major call.
The Inter Milan star was too, in turn, sent home from the Argentine camp, with his replacement – despite murmurs of a potential call-up for Manchester United talent Alejandro Garnacho – coming in the form of Atlanta United’s Thiago Almada.
