Man United vs Bournemouth & Newcastle
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign at Manchester United has started incredibly well.
Perhaps the only blemish on Solskjaer’s record so far is that Man United have been unable to record a clean sheet.
However United are scoring goals for fun after putting five past Cardiff City and three against Huddersfield Town.
Man United fans will be hoping their winning run continues in their next two matches.
The Red Devils host Bournemouth on Sunday at the Theatre of Dreams.
Next Wednesday United travel to St James’ Park to face Newcastle.
Alexis Sanchez & Anthony Martial
Following the Huddersfield match, Solskjaer gave a series of injury updates.
It’s worth noting that against the Terriers, United were without three key forwards.
Alexis Sanchez is still out of action, while Anthony Martial was a surprise absentee against Huddersfield through illness.
Romelu Lukaku also missed the Boxing Day clash as the Belgian continued his compassionate leave.
Solskjaer has indicated that all three players could be back in action in the matches against Bournemouth and Newcastle.
Speaking about the trio after Huddersfield, the Man United interim manager said:
I said to the staff towards the end: when you go 2-0 up, maybe 3-0 up, next week we’ll have Sanchez, Martial back, you’ve got Lukaku to put on, I think we could have really finished them off then.
Alexis is back. He flew in, he’s had two days of good fitness work, hopefully he can join in training with the ball as soon as we get back in.
It’s touch and go for Bournemouth, but he’ll definitely be involved at Newcastle.
