Warriors: Stephen Curry set to miss Thunder matchup with quad contusion

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry will be out for around a week after suffering a quad contusion.

Curry sustained the injury during the Warriors 104-100 loss to the Houston Rockets in Wednesday night’s NBA Cup matchup.

The Warriors are 10-10 so far in the NBA regular season but have been eliminated from knockout contention in the NBA Cup, going 1-3 in West Group C.

And they now look set to be without Curry for at least the next two games after ESPN’s Shams Chanaria and Anthony Slater reported he will be sidelined for “around a week or a little more”.

The Warriors host the New Orleans Pelicans and defending champions the Oklahoma City Thunder in their next two games before starting a four-game road trip next Thursday with a game against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Curry could theoretically be back for the trip to Philadelphia, though the Warriors will naturally not want to rush him back so early into an 82-game regular-season.

The two-time league MVP and 2022 NBA Finals MVP is averaging 27.9 points per game this season. Curry is shooting 47.1 percent from the field and 39.1 percent from three-point range. He leads the league in three-point attempts (12) and three-pointers made (4.7) per game.
