Luka Doncic: Anthony Davis trade ‘crazy’, says ‘shocked’ Durant after fan tells forward about trade
Dallas are the reigning Western champions
Former NBA MVP Kevin Durant has revealed how fans and a security guard told him about Luka Doncic’s reported trade for Anthony Davis, calling the deal “crazy”.
Two of the most high-profile names in basketball will move in opposite directions when Doncic leaves the Dallas Mavericks for the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Davis, according to ESPN and AP.
“It’s crazy,” said Phoenix Suns forward Durant, an NBA champion in 2017 and 2018 with the Golden State Warriors.
“I would never have thought Luka Doncic would get traded at this age, mid-season. If he can get traded in, anybody’s up for grabs.
“For fans, it’s pretty fun. I know it’s probably pretty nerve-wracking, though, for Luka, everybody in Dallas, LA, [Davis]. For everybody involved, I’m sure, their head is spinning right now.”
“This deal materialized in the shadows … LeBron James had no idea this was coming. Anthony Davis had no idea this was coming. I’m told Luka Doncic is still stunned about this trade.”@ShamsCharania on the Anthony Davis-Luka Doncic trade between the Lakers and Mavericks pic.twitter.com/Hp4bL3UX2M

Doncic trade for Davis ‘shock’
With the NBA trade deadline looming at 3pm ET on Thursday, Doncic, Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris are said to be headed to the Lakers, with Davis and Max Christie joining Dallas.
Should the deal go through, it will create two blockbuster pairings: Doncic with LeBron James and Davis with Kyrie Irving.
“I’m still shocked,” said Durant, speaking after scoring 22 points in the Suns’ 127-108 defeat at the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday.
“A couple of fans said ‘Luka got traded in’, and then a security guy showed me his phone. I just can’t wait to see it all on the floor. This has got to be the biggest trade I’ve seen since I’ve been playing in the league or watching the sport.”

NBA trade deadline ‘wild’
“Players are held to a different standard of loyalty and commitment to a program, but organizations don’t get held to that same standard,” said Durant.
“It’s a transactional game – a lot of money and business involved. [Trades] are just the nature of playing basketball and making this much money involved.
“This is a pretty wild time, especially around trade deadline time. I know everybody will be watching their phones next week and following updates.”
