Lyon are desperate to get back to winning form after an embarrassing loss in midweek to Auxerre with Laurent Blanc continuing to feel the heat at the helm of the French giants ahead of travelling to Angers.
This game and the one prior for Lyon should have seen Blanc’s side collect all three points with relative ease. However, they were beaten by the relegation-fighting Auxerre last Friday, as Moussa Dembele got a goal for them in the 2-1 loss.
Lyon did manage to get a fantastic win over Lens two weeks ago and they have also advanced into the French Cup round of 16 after a penalty shootout win over Lille.
This poor run of form from Lyon keeps them outside of the top eight for yet another week, as they sit ninth with just 10 wins from 24 games and nine losses.
Angers lost again last weekend, as Strasbourg forced defeat number 18 for them this season. It keeps the club on just 10 points with two wins from 24 games in Ligue 1 so far.
The last-placed side are sitting 10 points behind the safe spots of Ligue 1 and in truth, Lyon should ease to a win here.
