After a wildly mixed start to the season, will Atlético Madrid be able to find the consistency needed if they’re to be serious title contenders?

First, los Colchoneros looked excellent as they hammered Getafe 3-0 on the opening weekend; Álvaro Morata with a brace.

But then, last Sunday, Diego Simeone’s side offered very little and were beaten 2-0 by Villarreal at the Cívitas Metropolitano.

Now, Atleti face back-to-back away games, this one followed by a trip to Real Sociedad, with their title credentials set to be tested.

Valencia’s start to the campaign has followed a similar pattern.

Los Che, just about, beat newly-promoted Girona on the opening weekend, thanks to Carlos Soler’s penalty.

But then, last Sunday, Gennaro Gattuso’s team didn’t muster a single shot on target, beaten 1-0 by Athletic Club at San Mamés.

Safe to say, Valencia supporters are not pleased with the ownership of the club, but will be really behind their team for this huge Monday night game.
