Spurs v Brentford: Confirmed line-ups as Micky van de Ven and Igor Thiago return

It is a big afternoon for Thomas Frank for many reasons as Spurs host Brentford.

The Dane is under pressure with Tottenham having won just one of their last eight games in all competitions.

If he is to improve that record, he will have to do it against a team with whom he spent nine largely successful years before moving across London in the summer.

His replacement Keith Andrews has continued Frank’s good work and Brentford head into the weekend in 13th place. They were beaten at Arsenal in midweek, however, and the Bees will be eager to avoid double disappointment in North London.

Spurs v Brentford stats

  • Spurs have lost one of their eight Premier League meetings with Brentford (W4 D3), winning each of the last three in a row
  • They have lost their last three Premier League London derby matches, last losing more consecutively between March and October 2021 (5). They’ve lost each of their last four such matches at home, never in their league history losing five in a row
  • Three of their 16 Premier League home games in 2025 have resulted in wins (D3 L10), their lowest win rate across a calendar year in their league history (19%). Their 10 home defeats this year is also a joint-high for the club along with 1994 and 2003
  • This will be Frank’s first Premier League meeting Brentford. Four of the last six occasions a Spurs boss has faced a specific former side for the first time they’ve lost, with the exceptions being Nuno Espirito Santo beating Wolves 1-0 (August 2021) and Mauricio Pochettino beating Southampton 1-0 (October 2014)
  • Mohammed Kudus has five assists for Tottenham in the Premier League this season, already just one short of his highest return in the competition (6 in 2023-24). With a goal against Fulham and an assist against Newcastle, the Ghanaian is looking to register a goal involvement in three consecutive Premier League games for the first time
  • Brentford have won just three of their last 16 Premier League London derbies (D4 L9), though all three of those victories have come away from home (vs Crystal Palace and West Ham twice)
  • No side has lost more Premier League away games than Brentford this season (6), with only Wolves (1) picking up fewer points on the road than the Bees (3)
  • They have lost three of their four Premier League away games against Spurs, with the exception being a 3-1 win in May 2023
  • The Bees are the second London side to face both Arsenal and Tottenham away from home in consecutive Premier League matches, after Chelsea in December 2010. The Blues drew 1-1 at White Hart Lane before a 3-1 loss at the Emirates
  • Igor Thiago has nine goals in his last eight Premier League starts, with those goals worth eight points to Brentford
