Maresca reveals Garnacho ready to start for Chelsea & admits he has ‘good feeling’ despite Bayern Munich loss
The winger joined the Blues from Manchester United this summer.
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca believes summer signing Alejandro Garnacho is finally in a position to start games after building up his fitness.
The Argentine joined from Manchester United in the summer and has made a few cameo appearances, including in the 3-1 loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League during midweek.
But the head coach has given a more positive update and claims he could be in line for a starting spot against Manchester United this Saturday.
In his pre-match press conference, he said: “In the last two games, he came on and did very good.
“We are happy with how he is adapting in our style and what we want for our winger. If he is ready to start tomorrow? I think he is ready to start.”
On the Bayern loss, he added: “The reality is that they have all week to prepare a game and we played a game 48 hours ago but I prefer to play Champions League games.
“Wednesday’s game is a normal game in terms of Champions League.
“We knew it would be a tough game, we tried our best. For periods we were very good but there are things to improve.
“My feeling at the end of the game was good because we are here and are going to compete in this competition.”
Trust in Amorim
Chelsea take on Ruben Amorim’s United at Old Trafford on Saturday. The two are old foes but Maresca will be aware the Red Devils are struggling as of late under their head coach.
However, he still chose to praise Amorim, who he believes is simply going through a rough patch.
“I really appreciate Ruben Amorim. He’s a magnificent manager.
“Sometimes you can struggle a little bit more or less at the start of a project. I have no doubt he’s a fantastic manager, I watched his games since in Sporting.”
