Liverpool v Brighton: Mohamed Salah makes Reds return as substitute against Seagulls
Liverpool got off to the dream start against Brighton this afternoon
Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool exile is over after the disgruntled forward came on in the first half of the home game against Brighton this afternoon.
Salah was named among the substitutes against the Seagulls after being omitted from the squad against Inter Milan in midweek following his extraordinary outburst after the 3-3 draw against Leeds last Saturday.
The Egypt international has not appeared for Liverpool since the 1-1 home draw against Sunderland on December 3 when he was also brought off the bench.
But his introduction as a 27th-minute replacement for injured defender Joe Gomez was met with huge cheers from the Anfield crowd.
Gomez had earlier set up the opener for Liverpool, converted by Hugo Ekitiké after just 46 seconds – the fastest goal in the Premier League this season.
