West Ham have confirmed the departure of Graham Potter.

Graham Potter leaves West Ham after miserable Premier League start

Graham Potter has left his position as West Ham head coach.

The former Chelsea and Brighton and Hove Albion boss had been under significant pressure following a dismal start to the new Premier League season, which had seen the Hammers claim just three points from their opening five games.

Potter took the week of training and Friday’s press conference ahead of Monday’s clash with Everton on Merseyside.

But he will not be in charge for that game after the club confirmed a tenure that began in January had come to an end.

A club statement read: “West Ham United can confirm that Head Coach Graham Potter has left the Club.

“Results and performances over the course of the second half of last season and the start of the 2025-26 season have not matched expectations, and the Board of Directors believe that a change is necessary in order to help improve the team’s position in the Premier League as soon as possible.

“The Club can confirm that Assistant Coach Bruno Saltor, First Team Coaches Billy Reid and Narcis Pelach, Lead Goalkeeper Coach Casper Ankergren, and Goalkeeper Coach Linus Kandolin have also left with immediate effect.

“The Board would like to thank Graham and his coaching staff for their hard work during their time with the Hammers and wish them every success for the future.

“The process of appointing a replacement is underway. The Club will be making no further comment at this time.”

Potter’s West Ham spell brief and bruising

Potter’s time as West Ham boss has come to an end after just 261 days, and featured precious few wins.

His stock was already at a low ebb following a disappointing spell at Chelsea. While he did enough to keep West Ham in the Premier League last season, Potter did little to improve the mood at the London Stadium following Julen Lopetegui’s departure.

Potter managed to win just six of his 25 games in charge, a 3-1 victory at Nottingham Forest last month proving his last triumph.

Former Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espírito Santo is the odds-on favourite to replace Potter, though Slaven Bilic has also been linked with a return to the club.
