Bookmakers slash odds on Liverpool boss Arne Slot to be next Premier League manager to leave

The odds on Arne Slot to be the next Premier League manager to leave his post have been slashed following Liverpool’s humbling defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

The Reds slumped to their sixth defeat in seven league games with Forest cruising to an impressive 3-0 win at Anfield.

Slot is now 11/2 to be the next top-flight manager to go – second behind Leeds’ Daniel Farke – and the pressure is starting to mount with Liverpool struggling to replicate their brilliant form of last season that saw them romp to the Premier League title.

Liverpool are currently 11th but will slip a further place if Merseyside rivals Everton win at Manchester United tonight.

Slot second in the market behind Farke

Lee Phelps, the spokesperson for William Hill, said: “Liverpool’s dismal 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest has only increased the pressure on Arne Slot and the Reds boss is now our second favourite to be the next Premier League manager to leave their job.

“Slot’s odds of 16/1 have tumbled down to 11/2 over the weekend, meaning only Leeds boss Daniel Farke is ahead of him in the market, and if the Dutchman can’t turn results around quickly, that price will only shorten further.”

Slot ducks awards ceremony

Slot was due to pick up an award for the Northern Football Writers’ Association manager of the year yesterday afternoon but pulled out with Liverpool ambassador Gary McAllister sent in his place.

Speaking after the weekend defeat to Forest, Slot made no excuses for his side’s current problems.

He said: “I want to emphasise I am responsible for the current losses. You are responsible when you are winning but also responsible when you are losing.

“I can never come up with enough excuses for us to have the results we have. That is far from good enough and I am responsible for that.”
