Xavi Simons challenges Spurs to find consistency after second straight win and says he is living his ‘dreams’ in Champions League
Xavi Simons says finding consistency is key for Tottenham after helping to secure a second straight win against Slavia Prague.
Spurs backed up their 2-0 win over Brentford on Saturday with a 3-0 win over Slavia Prague in the Champions League, with summer signing Simons on target in both as he begins to find his feet in North London.
The double home victory has provided some much needed positivity for Thomas Frank and his side, having previously won just won of their first seven home Premier League games.
Speaking to TNT Sports, Simons said: “Really happy to win another game at home with the fans. We have to continue, really happy.
“It’s always a pleasure for me playing Champions League, I’m enjoying my dreams. Really happy to be here.”
“It’s a team that play man-to-man and you have to look for space and create chances. First half we had those chances but didn’t score, luckily we had two goals in the second half.
“That’s what we’re trying to do [find consistency]. Two games, two wins. The weekend will be a tough game at [Nottingham] Forest, we hope we can continue this run.”
‘That’s why we signed Xavi’
Manager Frank was delighted to see another impressive display by Simons, who cost Spurs £50million in the summer, and says the last two games is more what he expects from the midfielder.
He said: “That’s the a reason why we signed Xavi. We think he’s a very good player.
“I think we saw some, some, some very nice positive offensive actions, the way he turns, the way he can go past a man like we talked about the deep runs. He did a few of those again.
“So we know that when you’re playing to feet It’s easy, but when you run past people, it’s more difficult to defend. So I think so I like that a lot.”
