Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich: Full team news, confirmed line-ups in Champions League as Kane returns

Two European giants face off in Madrid as Real and Bayern look to reach the last four of the Champions League once again.

Real have lifted the trophy 15 times, while Bayern have six titles to their name.

This is already the most-played fixture in major European competition history. All 28 of their meetings have come in the European Cup or Champions League, with 26 of them taking place in the knockout stages.

Bayern have not won in the last nine meetings of the sides.

Much will depend on the fitness of Harry Kane. The England captain has scored 133 goals in 135 games for the Bavarian side and is key to their progress in the competition.

Kane was back with the squad in training on Monday and is back in the starting side for the club’s biggest game of the season.

Real Madrid team news

Vinicius Junior starts for Madrid, having begun on the bench on Saturday because the winger was tired after representing Brazil.

Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois (quad), left-back Ferland Mendy (hamstring), winger Rodrygo (knee) and midfielder Dani Ceballos (calf) are sidelined.

David Alaba was an unused substitute against Mallorca and is so again as the defender continues his return from injury.

Midfielder Federico Valverde returns from suspension. Eder Militao, who is on the bench, equalised against Mallorca on the centre-back’s comeback from a long-term injury.

Midfielder Jude Bellingham is on the bench again, having not been risked by England during the international break.

Real XI: Lunin, Trent, Rudiger, Huijsen, Carreras, Valverde, Thiago, Tchouameni, Guler, Mbappe, Vinicius Jr

Bayern Munich team news
