Kairat 0-5 Real Madrid: Report, result and goals as Mbappe scores hat-trick in Champions League rout
Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappe scored a fourth Champions League treble.
Kylian Mbappe helped Real Madrid respond to their derby humbling at the hands of Atletico Madrid as his hat-trick secured a 5-0 win at Kairat.
Madrid made the near-4,000 mile journey to Almaty on the back of a 5-2 hammering by their city rivals, which saw them surrender their place atop LaLiga to Barcelona.
But there was no hint of Xabi Alonso’s men succumbing to an almighty shock at the hands of the Kazakh champions, with Mbappe ensuring Madrid made it two wins from two to start the league phase.
He opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 25th minute, before doubling his tally with a dinked finish seven minutes into the second half.
After wasting one gilt-edged opportunity to round off his treble, he did so in the 73rd minute with a powerful low finish into the bottom-right corner from the edge of the area, with Eduardo Camavinga and Brahim Diaz then adding late gloss to the scoreline.

Mbappe gets Real Madrid back on track
Xabi Alonso shuffled his pack in response to the heavy Atletico defeat, and Madrid should have been ahead as early as the 15th minute, when Vinicius Junior scuffed wide of the post with only the goalkeeper to beat following a defensive error from Kairat.
Sherkhan Kalmurza produced a fine save to keep out a curling Mbappe effort seven minutes later, but an error of judgement from Kalmurza allowed Mbappe to slot home from the spot after the Kairat keeper had felled Franco Mastantuono.
Mbappe bent wide from close range after nutmegging a Kairat defender on the byline just before the break, but he made no mistake with his next opportunity, the France forward racing onto a long ball forward and chipping it over a helpless Kalmurza.
The former Paris Saint-Germain star was left red-faced when he missed a golden chance to complete his hat-trick, Mbappe somehow rolling the ball wide with only the goalkeeper to beat and the entire goal to aim at following exquisite link-up play with Vinicius.
Kairat were awarded a penalty in the 68th minute after Dani Ceballos appeared to bring down Valery Gromyko, but a VAR review led to the decision being overturned, as it was deemed insufficient contact had been made.
And Madrid made the most of that let-off, Mbappe lashing home after being teed up by Arda Guler, bringing up his fourth Champions League hat-trick.
Camavinga and Diaz add gloss for Real Madrid
Kairat tired in the closing stages, and the depth at Alonso’s disposal allowed Madrid to make the scoreline more emphatic.
Camavinga turned home his first Champions League goal from Rodrygo’s near-post cross seven minutes from the end of normal time and, after Luis Mata had a shot beaten away by Thibaut Courtois in an increasingly rare attack for Kairat, Brahim added a final flourish.
Brahim fired in off the post with what proved the final kick of the game after being fed by Camavinga, Madrid capping the longest away trip in their history in style and putting the misery of the derby behind them.
