Everton vs Manchester City betting tips: Premier League preview, predictions and odds

Manchester City have won nine consecutive meetings with Everton in league and cup, scoring 26 goals and conceding five.

Manchester City to win and over 2.5 goals is 4/5.

Manchester City to win and both teams to score NO is 21/20.

Raheem Sterling is 5/1 to break the deadlock and 13/10 to score anytime.

Match preview

Perhaps, after all, there is a title race in the Premier League.

Last weekend, against all odds, Manchester City were beaten 3-2 by Tottenham at home with the winner coming in the 95th minute.

Nevertheless, after Liverpool’s win on Wednesday, the Reds are now just three points behind with level games played.

Given that Liverpool are in Carabao Cup Final action on Sunday, Man City can reestablished that six-point buffer, for now at least.

Will they do that just across Stanley Park?

In stark contrast to their aforementioned Merseyside neighbours, Everton are firmly in a relegation battle.

The Toffees put in an abject and lifeless display last weekend as they meekly lost 2-0 to Southampton at St Mary’s.

The Blues have lost 13 games already in this campaign, which is the same number as defeats they suffered in the whole of last season.

Frank Lampard’s side start the weekend 16th, level on points with Newcastle and just two clear of Burnley and the relegation zone.

For context, this is Everton’s 68th consecutive season in the top-flight, last suffering first division relegation in 1951.

There’s nothing quite like a visit from Manchester City to lift the mood; anything other than an away win would be a major surprise.

Everton team news

Frank Lampard is currently without Yerry Mina, Tom Davies, Abdoulaye Doucouré, Fabian Delph and Demari Gray who are all injured.

He does though have loan signing Donny van de Beek who’s likely to keep his place with Dele remaining on the bench.

In attack, Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored in all three matches in August but hasn’t netted in any of his five appearances since coming back from a toe injury.

Nevertheless, he’ll partner Richarlison in attack, looking to end that barren run.

Manchester City team news

Manchester City have enjoyed a rare week off to mull over the Tottenham defeat.

Riyāḍ Maḥrez, who was surprisingly left on the bench for that one, is likely to return here.

One guaranteed starter is surely Raheem Sterling.

He’s now scored 12 times in his last 18 appearances, despite the fact his previous 12 goals had come in a spell of 58 matches stretched across a year.
