Eintracht Frankfurt vs Rangers betting tips: UEFA Europa League Final preview, predictions and odds

Europa League trophy

Frankfurt won the only previous meetings between these two, advancing 12-4 on aggregate to the European Cup Final in 1960.

Rangers have won 18 of 53 matches against teams for Germany/East Germany, including two victories during this season's knockout stages. However, the Light Blues have only won one of five previous European finals.

Frankfurt have claimed victory in four of six matches against Scottish clubs, although the last of these was against Aberdeen in 1979. This'll be the Eagles' third European Final, beating Borussia Mönchengladbach in 1980, two decades after defeat to Real Madrid at Hampden.

Both teams to score is 4/6.

Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals is 11/10.

Either team to win in extra time is 9/2.

Rangers to lift the trophy is 11/10.

James Tavernier is the top scorer in this season's Europa League with seven, all of which have come in the knockout stages. He is 10/1 to break the deadlock and 4/1 to add to this tally.

Rafael Santos Borré meanwhile has 11 goals to his name this season. He is 6/1 to open the scoring and 2/1 to net anytime.

Match preview

176 matches have been played in the UEFA Europa League this season, with 473 goals having been scored.

Now, just one match and two teams remain, both of whom are desperate to make history and reclaim European silverware after decades of waiting.

Rangers are the first Scottish club to reach a European Final since they themselves got to the 2008 UEFA Cup Final, losing 2-0 to Zenit in Manchester.

The Gers had also lost in the Cup Winners' Cup Finals of 1961 and 1967, before claiming that trophy in 1972, beating Dynamo Moscow in Barcelona.

Having lost the first-ever UEFA Super Cup against Ajax a few months later, this remains their only continental silverware, so far.

To get to this final, Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side have really upset the odds, demolishing Borussia Dortmund 6-4 in the first knockout round.

They then ousted Crvena zvezda before, despite losing both first legs 1-0 away, coming from behind to dump out both Braga and RB Leipzig.

With the Premiership ranked 14th at the start of the season, no team from a league ranked so low has appeared in a final since CSKA Moskva in 2005.

This is one of the biggest weeks in Rangers' illustrious history with a Scottish Cup Final against Hearts coming up on Saturday.

So, despite having failed to retain the league title, this could be one of their greatest campaigns ever, or it could end without any silverware at all.

Obviously, this is the main event, so will the tens of thousands of Gers fans who've made the trek to Seville have history to celebrate?

Eintracht Frankfurt supporters though certainly will not be outnumbered and their team come into this final as favourites.

Oliver Glasner's side are unbeaten in this season's competition, topping a group above Olympiacos, Fenerbahçe and Royal Antwerp.

They then, in dramatic fashion, knocked out Real Betis 3-2 in the round of 16, going through courtesy of an own goal in injury time of extra time.

This set up a glamour quarter-final clash with Barcelona and, following a 1-1 draw in Germany, a famous night for 30,000 visiting fans in Catalonia.

Filip Kostić's brace, with Rafael Santos Borré scoring in-between, had Frankfurt 3-0 up at Camp Nou before eventually winning 3-2.

West Ham provided the final hurdle in the semis with Ansgar Knauff and Daichi Kamada scoring in London before Borré's goal at home secured victory.

So, the 1980 UEFA Cup winners are back in their first continental final since then, and they'll also be well-supported in Southern Spain.

With this competition the priority, Frankfurt didn't win any of their last eight Bundesliga games, eventually ending up 11th.

So, only victory here will see them return to Europe next season, qualifying for the Champions League for the very first time.

Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán is going to be raucous but which set of fans will be celebrating their club's greatest-ever achievement?

Eintracht Frankfurt team news

Oliver Glasner, in contrast to his opposite number, named a strong line-up for Saturday's final league match of the season, a 2-2 draw at Mainz.

Frankfurt are without star centre-back Martin Hinteregger who hobbled off during the semi-final second leg against West Ham.

Wing-back Danny da Costa is a doubt, having played just once since February, while midfielder Stefan Ilsanker hasn't been included in the UEFA squad.

Without Hinteregger, Tuta and Evan Ndicka are likely to be joined by Almamy Touré in the back three.

Filip Kostić and Ansgar Knauff have both contributed crucial goals on the road during this run with the former scoring across Seville in the round of 16.

Daichi Kamada, got the winner at the London Stadium, meaning he's now scored 11 in this competition, including five this season.

The Japanese international and Jens Petter Hauge will continue to support top-scorer Rafael Santos Borré in attack.

Gonçalo Paciência could be a threat off the bench, particularly in the air, if needed.

Rangers team news

Giovanni van Bronckhorst meanwhile rested his entire team for Saturday's win at Hearts, so expect 11 changes for this final.

The team featured youngsters Adam Devine, Leon King and Alex Lowery while Aaron Ramsey was given an hour to help build up his fitness.

The problem area remains up front where Alfredo Morelos is out while Kemar Roofe is major doubt having not played since Easter Sunday against Celtic.

So, with Fashion Sakala not trusted, Joe Aribo is likely to be deployed as a false nine with Ryan Kent and Scott Wright either side.

Kent has only scored three goals this season but has racked up a mightily impressive 19 assists, including seven in UEFA competition.

40 year old goalkeeper Allan McGregor missed the 2008 UEFA Cup Final due to injury, but will get to start this time.

At the back, Calvin Bassey will continue to partner Connor Goldson in the middle with Borna Barišić having regained his form at left-back.

On the other side, James Tavernier has scored seven Europa League goals this season, all of which have come in the knockout phase.

John Lundstram will drop into the back-line, making it a back three/five, with Ryan Jack and Glen Kamara completing the trio.

Midfield is where van Bronckhorst has an array of talent with Ramsey, Scott Arfield and Steven Davis good options to come off the bench.

Davis could become just the fifth Rangers player to feature in multiple European finals, joining John Greig, Sandy Jardine, Dave Smith and Willie Johnston.
