Premier League giants Manchester City were defending their title as one of 32 teams taking part in the 2025 Fifa Club World Cup.
The Cityzens beat Fluminense 4-0 in the 2023 final in Saudi Arabia, with the competition now expanded from the seven sides who took part on that occasion.
Jack Grealish and Kyle Walker were the most prominent names left out of City’s squad in the US, with new signings Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders and Marcus Bettinelli all included.
