Will Burnley’s winless run come to an end in this fierce Lancashire derby?

Vincent Kompany made a winning start to life as Burnley boss, beating Huddersfield 1-0 on the opening Friday night of the season.

However, since then the Clarets haven’t won again, drawing three of four outings, most recently playing out a thriller with Blackpool.

Josh Brownhill breaking the deadlock, before Nathan Tella’s brace had them 3-1 up, only to draw 3-3 with the Tangerines.

On Tuesday, Burnley began their Carabao Cup campaign with a trip to New Meadon to take on Shrewsbury Town.

Samuel Bastien was the night’s only scorer as Burnley reached round three.

Will they now get back on track in the Championship?

Given that these two clubs are located just 29.9 miles apart, Wigan Athletic will be desperate to beat their local rivals.

The Latics, who were promoted back to the second-tier last season, kick off above their visitors on goal difference.

Leam Richardson’s team claimed their first victory of the season last Saturday; Nathan Broadhead’s late winner downing Birmingham City at St Andrew’s.

So, having started the campaign with three draws, Wigan are still unbeaten upon their Championship return.

Who will prevail at the DW Stadium?
