The matchup in question will see Sunderland act as hosts, in a meeting with newly-promoted Ipswich Town.
Beginning with the former, Sunderland, of course, are primed to head into the campaign hopeful of going one better than last term.

The decision to confirm Tony Mowbray on the bench for 2023/24 should prove a fruitful one when it comes to continuity at the Stadium of Light, with the summer additions of the likes of Jobe Bellingham and Bradley Dack set to add further depth to a squad still very much under construction.
One blow, though, and a considerable one at that, has come in the form of dazzling loanee Amad Diallo’s return to base with Manchester United.

Turning attentions towards Sunday’s visitors, Ipswich, of course, will head into proceedings raring to kick their Championship return back into gear.
