Stoke City vs West Bromwich Albion match preview

Two sides in search of a bounce-back result are set to lock horns in a Championship clash at The Bet365 Stadium this Saturday, April 15th.

The matchup in question will see Stoke City act as hosts, in a meeting with West Bromwich Albion.

Beginning with the former, Stoke are primed to enter the weekend’s action having been brought firmly back down to earth over the course of the last few weeks.

After heading into this month as one of the Championship’s most in-form sides, fresh off a stellar five-game unbeaten run, the Potters have since notched just a solitary point from an available six.

First, a home meeting with Bristol City saw Alex Neil’s troops surrender a late lead, en route to a 2-1 defeat.

And this was followed last time out by another somewhat underwhelming result, in the form of a goalless stalemate with Birmingham City.

As alluded to above, though, the day’s hosts will not be the only eyes desperate for a return to winning ways at The Bet365 Stadium on Saturday.

So too will visitors West Bromwich Albion, amid a dismal recent stretch of results of their own.

The Baggies’ ongoing pursuit of a playoff promotion berth has been dealt a series of potentially decisive blows, dating back to late last month.

This comes with Carlos Corberan’s men having failed to emerge on the right side of the result in any of their last four league outings.

Most recently, after being put to the sword by relegation-battling Rotherham United, West Brom welcomed one of English football’s most out-of-form sides – in Queens Park Rangers – to The Hawthorns.

And despite racing out into a two-goal lead inside the opening quarter of an hour, remarkably, they still couldn’t manage to get the job done, ultimately succumbing to a 2-2 stalemate.

Corberan and co, as a result, have slipped five points off the top-six pace.

Taking all factors into consideration, we at 101 are therefore backing an eventual sharing of the spoils to play out between Stoke and West Brom on Saturday afternoon.
