A Rotherham United outfit desperate for a return to winning ways will act as hosts on Monday, December 26th, as Stoke City prepare to make the trip to the New York Stadium for a crunch clash in the battle against relegation from the Championship.

Rotherham, for their part, have endured an altogether tough time of things of late.

After looking as though they had gotten things firmly back on track courtesy of four points from an available six - including a victory over promotion-chasing Sheffield United - heading into the World Cup break, the Millers have since struggled since the return of English football two weeks ago.

First up came a disappointing two-goal defeat at the hands of Bristol City.

And this was followed last time out by a 2nd three-goal concession on the trot, on this occasion courtesy of West Bromwich Albion.

Rotherham, as a result, find themselves sitting 19th in the Championship table, just two points clear of the bottom three.

Safe to say, then, that a three-point haul on Boxing Day would go a long way towards easing the mounting nerves at the New York Stadium at present.

Such a result, though, is unlikely to prove a straightforward one to come by.

This comes with the Millers’ upcoming opponents having enjoyed an altogether more fruitful couple of weeks since returning from the international break.
